Before you load a single sheet, two questions decide whether a print run goes smoothly: how many sheets will this batch eat, and why did nothing come out? The official Shopify app leaves both silent - you find out only after the paper is gone. LabelCraft answers them up front with a batch reckoner that runs the moment you set your quantities, so there are no surprises at the printer.

Click Print and LabelCraft shows the total label count, how many sheets the job will use, how many labels land on the final sheet, and whether that last sheet is only partly filled. You can match your paper to the run before you commit a single sheet.

Labels per sheet

An Avery 5160 sheet holds 30 labels - a grid of 3 columns by 10 rows. That figure is the whole basis of the sheet math: divide your batch by the labels a sheet holds, round up, and you have your page count. Pick a different Avery layout and LabelCraft uses that preset's own grid instead, but the logic is identical.

A worked example

Say you need 100 labels on Avery 5160. At 30 labels a sheet that comes to 4 sheets: three full sheets of 30, then 10 labels on the fourth. The reckoner flags that last sheet as partial - 20 slots stay blank - so you know to feed a fresh sheet, or, on the next run, to start at a later cell and reuse the leftover.

Why the count is always right

The reckoner does not estimate. It uses the same imposition formula the render engine uses to lay out the actual PDF: pages = ceil((labels + skipped cells) / labels-per-sheet). Because the pre-print count and the print itself read from one shared calculation, they can never disagree. If the reckoner says 4 sheets, four sheets is exactly what prints.

Nothing printed? The zero-labels guard

If you select products but leave every quantity at 0, the job would print nothing. The official Shopify app fires that no-op silently and you are left staring at an idle printer. LabelCraft instead blocks the run and explains why - a never-silent guard, so an empty batch is caught on screen, not at the paper tray. One note: rolls are continuous media - one label per advance - so this sheet math applies to Avery and other sheet layouts only.
