Dymo LabelWriter printers are one of the most common thermal label printers in retail and e-commerce. This guide covers how to print barcode labels for your Shopify products on a Dymo — the right way, so barcodes scan and labels land exactly where they should.

Common Dymo label sizes (in millimeters)

Dymo labels are sold by part number. Here are the most common for retail barcode use, with their exact dimensions:

30334 Multi-Purpose Labels — 57.15 × 31.75 mm. The most popular retail label. Fits one barcode, product name, price, and SKU.
11354 Multi-Purpose Labels — 57 × 32 mm. Virtually identical to the 30334; common in European markets.
30252 Address Labels — 88.9 × 28.58 mm. Long and narrow; used for small price tags when the SKU matters more than the barcode.
30333 Small Multi-Purpose — 25.4 × 25.4 mm. Square. Tight fit — only a barcode and a short identifier; best with Code 128.
30323 Shipping Labels — 101.6 × 152.4 mm. Full letter-size equivalent for the 4XL. Overkill for retail barcodes but works for large-item labelling.

The most important print setting: 100% scale

The single most common reason Dymo labels come out the wrong size or barcodes don't scan is the printer dialog scaling the PDF.

When your browser's print dialog opens, set the scale to 100% (sometimes labelled “Actual size” or “None”). Do not use “Fit to page”, “Shrink to fit”, or “Auto” — these shrink the barcode modules below the scanner threshold and shift the ink position off the label boundaries.

LabelCraft embeds the exact physical size of your label stock in the PDF (±0.1 mm). If you print at 100%, the label lands right; if the browser scales it, nothing will.

Step-by-step: printing Dymo labels from Shopify with LabelCraft

Open LabelCraft from your Shopify admin sidebar (Apps → LabelCraft).
In the print flow Step 1 — Select Products, search for the products you want to label and add them.
In Step 2 — Set Quantities, enter how many labels per variant. Use “From inventory” to pull live stock counts, or type custom quantities.
In Step 3 — Print, pick your Dymo template from the dropdown (e.g. Dymo 30334 (57.15 × 31.75 mm)). A live preview renders immediately.
Click Generate PDF. Your browser will download a PDF sized exactly to your label stock.
Open the PDF, choose Print → 100% / Actual size, select your Dymo printer, and print.

Custom label sizes

If your Dymo stock isn't in the built-in preset list, go to Templates → New template and enter the exact width and height in millimeters. You can add elements (title, barcode, price, SKU), resize them, and download a test PDF to check the layout before printing a full batch.

The printer calibration fields (X/Y offset in mm) let you correct any systematic drift — measure it off the calibration test page and type it in once; all future jobs shift automatically.

Troubleshooting

Barcode doesn't scan

Almost always a scaling issue. Print at 100%, not “fit to page”. If the barcode is missing from a product, use LabelCraft's “Generate missing barcodes” tool to create a valid EAN-13 or internal Code 128 barcode.

Label prints too small or too large

Check that the selected template matches your actual label stock. Dymo 30334 and 11354 are close but not identical — pick the right one, or create a custom template with the exact measurement off your label box.

Text is cut off

LabelCraft shows an overflow warning before you download the PDF. If you see it, the long-title variant won't fit at the current font size. In the template editor, set the title element's overflow mode to shrink to auto-reduce the font, or switch to truncate to shorten it with an ellipsis.
