When you move from Square to Shopify, your product catalog comes with you, but the labels you used to print from Square's POS do not. This guide shows how to take your exported Square item list and print scannable barcode labels for the whole catalog with LabelCraft — by matching each row to its Shopify product, then printing in one pass.

What carries over — and what doesn't

Your items, SKUs and prices move into Shopify when you import your catalog (Shopify has its own import for that). What does not move is Square's label printing — its templates, its print queue, and any label sizes you set up there. That's the gap LabelCraft fills: it reads your Shopify products and prints exact-size labels, so you don't rebuild your labelling from scratch.

Export your catalog from Square

From your Square Dashboard, open the Items library and export it to a CSV (Square calls this exporting your item library). The file lists each item with its SKU, name and price — exactly the columns LabelCraft needs to match and print.

Import and print with LabelCraft

LabelCraft's Print from a list takes that CSV directly — no Square connection or API needed. Paste or upload the file, map the columns, and match each row to a live Shopify variant by SKU or by barcode/UPC. Matching is exact and never guesses, and anything that can't be matched is shown in an exceptions panel rather than silently dropped.

In LabelCraft, open Print from a list and paste or upload your exported Square CSV.
Confirm the column mapping — LabelCraft detects the SKU/barcode and quantity columns, and you can correct any it gets wrong.
Choose to match by SKU or barcode; review the exceptions panel for rows that didn't match (a typo, a deleted item, a duplicate).
For variants with no barcode, run Generate missing barcodes — a real GTIN-13 from your GS1 prefix, or an internal-use Code 128.
Pick a template and print the matched batch at 100% / Actual size.

Because the match is exact and never-silent, you always know what will print: a Square row whose SKU has changed, or that points to a deleted product, lands in the exceptions list with a reason — not as a missing label discovered at the shelf.

If your Square items have no barcodes

Square lets you sell without barcodes, so your export may have empty barcode cells. You don't have to buy any: Generate missing barcodes assigns each variant a scannable value — a GTIN-13 if you own a GS1 prefix, otherwise a unique internal-use Code 128 — and never overwrites a code you already have. Troubleshooting

Lots of rows land in the exceptions panel

Usually the wrong match key. If your Square export keyed items by SKU, match by SKU; if it carried UPCs, match by barcode. LabelCraft tells you which rows didn't resolve and why, so you can re-map a column or fix the data and re-run — it never prints a guess.

The labels print the wrong size

Square's label stock may differ from your Shopify template. Pick or build a template at your real label size and always print at 100% / Actual size; LabelCraft renders to exact dimensions (±0.1 mm) and warns before printing if a barcode is too small to scan.
